  • Great Shot of Huge Wave

    Waiting for the wave

The flickr post says the photographer in unknown, but a user says in the comments that it’s by Tony Nolan. Either way this shot takes my breath away just thinking about the immense power of the ocean. This is reported to be in Teahupoo, Tahiti.

  • As if gas prices weren’t enough

As if prices at the pump weren’t enough stress on our wallets, now we have the airlines digging into our pockets!

Last year, British Airways, despite petitions from 14,000 surfers, went so far as to ban surfboards altogether.

“Why are we being singled out?” asked Evan Slater, a surfer and editor in chief of San Clemente-based Surfing magazine. “It’s not like we’re carrying nuclear weapons, and these surfboards aren’t much heavier than a carry-on.”

The charges have gotten so gnarly that some professional surfers are calling for a boycott of airlines that have high fees and are putting out their own personal lists of surfer-friendly carriers that wave riders should patronize.

  • Mohawk Waxstick

After numerous surf sessions ending in nasty rashes, bleeding nipples, (from sand in the wax, that’s all), wax melting all over the floor in a car, going nuts trying to find a wax comb and wasting the precious last globs of the traction-giving substance because it was impregnated with everything from dog hair to last week’s early morning bacon and egg roll, Aussie Adrian Young decided that enough was enough. That’s when he came up with the idea for Mohawk Waxstick.

The Mohawk Waxstick is an all-in-one refillable waxstick with a wax comb, wax scraper and a handy storage compartment in the base for your fin key, car key, cash or sunscreen.
Now we have a product that takes this element of surfing to a totally new level.

They’ll be launching very soon, but in the meantime, check out their contest for free samples at http://mohawkwaxstick.com.au/contest.php

  • The Wave

The Wave inline action board (Street Surfer). There is no other way to get such an amazing ride on the street. It combines the feeling of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding on 2 wheels. The Wave gives you the ability to do precision 360’s, carve downhill and even ride uphill!

The Ripstik or the Wave has always been a matter of debate. Some say the Wave is better if you want a faster more uncontrolled ride and if you want a slower easier controlled ride choose the Ripstik. What do you think?
